Red Blotches On Arm. Become Bigger If Exposed To Sunlight. Suggest

Red circular blotches started on my right arm inside my elbow about six months ago. I thought nothing of it but they have gotten bigger and have spread. All are series of little circular blotches that have more and more forming to make it larger. It now has two spots the size of a quarter as well as circled by little ones the size of an eraser with two the size of dimes on my right shoulder. They don't itch or anything. But if exposed to sunlight they get brighter red. Wondering what it is and what I can do about them. I don't have health insurance so I don't want to go to the doctor since there's no pain. But they look terrible.

Hi,

It seems that you are having ..erythema annulare centrifugum.

Most commonly, no cause is found for the erythema annulare centrifugum (EAC).However, there may be association with other diseases. Often, the eruption of EAC resolves after treatment of the underlying illness.

Precipitating cause may be infection, stress, drugs, neoplasms, food..etc

Erythema annulare centrifugum (EAC) is usually self-limited.

Topical steroids usually cause involution of the treated lesions, but they do not prevent the occurrence of new lesions or recurrence of the eruption.

Systemic or injection steroid therapy is effective, but the eruption returns once these drugs are withdrawn.

Therefore, a search for and treatment of the underlying disorder is the primary therapy.

Remember that no cause is found in most cases.

You consult dermatologist for perfect diagnosis and treatment.

I hope you got my answer..

Thanks..
