Rapid Pounding Heart Beat While Lying Down. Any Need To Worry?
i have a rapid pounding heart beat when i lay down . it happens at night and during the day if i take naps in the afternoon. is this something too worry about ?three months ago i went to the e.r. thinking i was having a heart attack ( numbness in jaw, pain in chest, left arm pain) but the doctors ran tests and said they couldnt find anything wrong with my heart. i also had a stress test done 2 weeks later and that was fine also.
You have symptoms like pounding heart on lying down. All investigations related to heart came normal. Then the possible reason behind the symptoms is some anxiety disorder. In anxiety palpitations, restlessness, fear etc are main symptoms. I would like you to get your B12, Thyroid hormone levels checked. Abnormal levels of Vitamin B12 or thyroid hormones are main reasons behind such symptoms. If all investigations come normal then visit a Psychiatrist for expert help. Medicines like SSRI, SNRI are commonly used in anxiety disorder. Behavior therapy is also very useful in anxiety disorder.
Hope it helps you, Thanks, Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi, MD
