Pus Coming Out Of Internal Stitch, Redness. Knee Replacement Done. Infection?
I have some pus coming out of an internal stitch in an incision after a knee replacement performCed 7 weeks ago. The stitch has not disolved and there is a redness around the stitch. Could this be a sign of infection? I have not got a temperature and the redness is only around the stitch and the rest of the incision has healed nicely.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The presence of pus and redness in the area of stitches is likely to be due to an infection. This needs a direct examination to confirm. proper dressing, surgical pus drainage and systemic antibiotics will help you. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
