Pregnant. Got Nipple Injuries, Could Not Breast Feed Baby Properly. Unable To Reduce Weight. Suggest?

Hi,
I gave birth to a baby boy on oct 24 2012 through scheduled c section. From the day he was born till 4 months i had severe prob in breastfeeding as i got severe injuries in both my nipples. Even then i managed to breastfeed my baby till now. But unfortunately i got puss formed in my left breast because of this prob and it was removed through minor operation in my left breast on feb month here in Chennai. Because of all these problems i am not able to manage my post pregnancy weight gain and tummy fat. My belly looks like i am still 6 months pregnant. Now i desperately want to reduce my weight soon. 1. so, is it safe to take any Ayurvedic medicines to reduce my excess body weight? 2. drinking honey with warm water in the morning helps to reduce pregnancy weight? 3. Shall i do skipping exercise to reduce weight? 4. Do eating kellogg's k alone 2 times a day (Morning and evening) reduces my breastmilk flow? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It is indeed a tough situation when you have to both maintain adequate breast milk flow as well as a diet to reduce your weight.

1. Yes, the incidence of adverse effects is much less with Ayurvedic medicines when compared to Allopathic.
2. Exercise is a very important when it comes to weight loss and skipping is a very good one. You can also choose to jog, aerobics- swimming, or work out at a gym; Yoga is also very helpful.
3. Eating 2 times a day will only increase your weight, better to eat frequent (upto 5) small meals a day. Starving will lead to accumulation of harmful stress hormones and yes, it can reduce milk production.

Wishing you good health.
