Possibility Of Having Thyroid

February 27, 2013 had sudden flushing that I literally felt start in my mid abdomen and felt it rise to the top of my head. Very red neck, face, and ears assoc with a very hot sensation. Even the whites of my eyes were red! It was transient. Next day had heart racing. Went to ER and had work up along with cardiac stress echo and other labs that were negative. Continue, for over one year, to have tingling in abdomen, back and neck with palpitations that are controlled with atenolol. Four doctors have seen me and tell me it s most likely thyroid as I have hair loss, consitpation, cold and heat intolerance and tiredness/lack of energy. Seen an Endocrinologist on Monday and he denies it could be thyroid chucking it up to perimenopause.

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Noted your history of having sudden flushing from mid-abdomen to the head, all became red including the eyes on Feb 27, 2013.
Since you have seen 4 Doctors till now including the endocrinologist and have undergone full cardiac check up, this is definitely not related to the heart or thyroid proper.
I am sure by this time you must have undergone many of the tests including the Thyroid function tests and so on. Your mentioning the reports would have helped me to assist you more.
All the symptoms suggest towards peri-menopause as your Endocrinologist has suggested.
Get all the sex hormones checked and go for HRT if required or if the symptoms are troublesome.
