Polycystic Kidney Disease, Angimyolipoma Cyst In Right Kidney. Taking Medical Marijuana Suggested?

I am twenty years old and have been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease with 7 cysts on my right kidney along with a benign tumor, and about five cysts on my left kidney. Just recently I have found out that I have an angiomyolipoma cyst on my right kidney which is thought to be what has been causing me pain for the past year and a half that I've been experiencing it. I live in New Jersey and was wondering if I qualify for medical marijuana because of my kidneys.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

Presence of multiple cysts in bilateral kidneys is a congenital condition and is called poly cystic kidney.
If these cysts remain asymptomatic they require no treatment.
However, a fraction of cases can cause fall in renal functions. When the renal functions deteriorate, treatment is required.
Kidneys have an enormous capacity to compensate for its function.
If one kidney does not function well, the other kidney takes over the function.
Angiomyolipoma is a benign lesion of the kidney.
Cystic change in the angiomyolipoma can lead to formation of angiomyolipoma cyst.
Simple excision of this benign tumor with cyst will suffice.

As for the poly cystic kidneys, regular renal function tests is required to look for the functioning of the kidney.
No other medical treatment will benefit in this condition.

Thanks and take care
