Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Painless Abdominal Bruise, Purple. Cause For Concern?
I am a 54 year old male with an unexplained large bruise on my lower right abdomen . It is not painful, but is rather large ( 2 inches long and 1 inch wide). It is dark purple on outside and reddish on inside. It is possible that i banged against something, but had no pain and only noticed when looking in mirror. Is this cause for concern?
If it is not causing any pain then you should not be worried as most probably you must have hit some thing but you have not noticed as it can be as trivial as sleeping on your abdomen. I would suggest you to take hot water. Are you on blood thinning drugs by the way as it can happen very commonly with them.
