Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Left arm inside of bicep and topside of forearm; no swelling , no bruising; woke up in middle of the night and pain was excruciating and I could not straighten my arm; Had been moving large landscape rocks/earlier in the day and when one slipped I prevented a larger one from falling but no real pain at that time...should I seek treatment? or ice, heat, rest? I am bodybuilding female but only 5 3 and 100 lbs
From the information you have provided, I am concerned that you could have tendinitis. This is inflammation of the tendons, structures which connect your muscles to bones and bring about movement. Over use/strain as is the case of lifting heavy objects is one of the main predisposing factors. Treatment essentially consist in relieving your symptoms with rest, ice packs, pain medications and also refraining from lifting heavy objects that would further worsen the condition or compromise rapid recovery.
For now, seeing a doctor is not very necessary but if anything more worrisome should come up or symptoms not regressing, then you would need to consult your doctor. I hope this helps and addresses your query fully. I wish you well. Dr. Ditah, Md
