Pain And Swelling In The Throat. Lumps In The Neck. Have Smoking Addiction. Reason?

I've been a smoker, pack or less a day, for about 10 years. Within the last 3 months I've had come-and-go pain on one side of my throat with partial swelling. Now my throat feels dry, hurst as well as difficult to swallow, and I can feel considerable lumps (lymphnodes?) in my neck with my fingers and thumb. What could it be?

Hello

Thanks for writing to H.C.M.

I read your query regarding pain and swelling in throat, lump in neck and feeling difficulty in swallowing. You are a smoker also.

According to your symptoms it appears as there is some lesion in your pharynx and probably this lesion had given rise to lymphadenitis in neck. Such type of lesions are to be investigated as early as possible, so you are advice to consult ENT doctor for examination of your throat and if needed direct laryngoscopy and biopsy to find out the nature of lesion.

Further treatment will be plan according to inference of clinical finding and biopsy report.

I hope above explanation answers your query.

Regards.
