Pain And Swelling In The Chest, Raised Veins On The Hand. What Is Causing This?

Hi i get these pains on my left side of my chest and when i get them the veins on my left hand raises.... it used to come every 3 weeks or so but i ve been having it every day (several times for the day) and it last longer (30 mins or more). i have noticed that the left side of my chest is swollen as well.... I am only 19 years... can u please tell me what is causing it or what to do????

Hi,

There are many reasons for this kind of pain such as cardiac, lungs or chest wall. It is important that you see a doctor who usually in such cases can do an examination and carry out some tests such as an ECG, cardiac enzymes, ultrasound on the swelling etc. Cardiac pain is very unlikely at your age but cannot be completely ruled out. I would need more information from you regarding the symptoms and it is best you see a doctor. If the chest is swollen it means there could be some sort of injury, bleeding etc. It needs urgent medical assistance.
