Pain And Pus Formation After A Pilonidal Cyst Surgery. Is It A Part Of Healing?

Hello. A month ago I had pilonidal cyst surgery and I have an open wound, which is about 4 cm deep. I still have aches and I constantly have yellow mucus discharge . Is this normal ? and what is the best treatment option for this kind of wound? I clean it with hot water twice a day and cover the wound up. Is it best left untouched?

Hi,

I suggest to consult the surgeon immediately as the yellow mucus discharge could indicate any possible bacterial infection.

After cleaning by the surgeon, ask him/her to train you how to take care at home by yourself.

The wound should not left opened to avoid additional infection.

All the best!
