On Regular Use Of Marijuana. Due For Colonoscopy. Will Smoking Marijuana Affect The Procedure?

I smoke marijuana on a regular basis I have a colonoscopy scheduled in three days tried stopping as per instructions for prepping but having trouble in doing so will the marijuana affect my procedure I have smoked before an appendectomy and had no problems but I am still concerned my doctor does not know I smoke afraid of letting her know because I don't want to be judged

Hi, it is always better to inform the surgeon regarding the marijuana etc habbits to your doctors before they do some surgical procedures, and different doctors may have diferent experiences withe diferent narcotic products, and so you are better inform about your habbits, to prevent any untoward effects.

Marijuana is a CNS stimulant drug and usually it does not affect colonoscopy procedure but it may cause change in dosing of anesthetic agent if required. It can alter the doses so I would advise you to please convey your marijuana status to your attending doctor and this will be really safe for you.
