Noticed A Black Eye Due To An Injury Which Led To Knot On Forehead

My 2 year old fell off the couch & got a nasty knot on her forehead. 2 days later she woke up with a black eye (looks like she put on purple eye shadow over her eye lid). Should I take her in to be checked out by her doc or just watch how she's acting?

Hello
It seems from the history that your 2 year old had a injury to the fore head following which he his having black eye.
This is because of collection of blood in the layers of the skin of eye lids following trauma. This is common in cases of injury to the face above the level of the eye brow as the blood gravitates down to collect in the layers of the skin of eye lids.
This is a self limiting condition and it will resolve by 3-4 weeks even without treatment. Applying cold compression helps to resolve faster.

Thank you
