Not Healing Corneal Abrasion, Tried Pressure Patch, No Improvement. Had LASIK, Feeling Dizzy. Normal ?

I suffered a corneal abrasion 4 days ago. I visited an optomertrist who said within 24-48 hours it would have healed properly. My condition did not improve so I visted an opthamologist the next day. He applied a pressure patch to my eye and said 1-2 days to heal. The condition still did not improve so I revisted another omthamologist. The corneal abrasion had increased to approx 40% due to friction from blinking and the fact that I had LASIK eye surgery which meant the cornea (epithilium) was a bit weaker. He applied a bandage contact lens, and this had made an enormous improvment to pain management. 48hrs later, my vision is returning very rapidly, but I now starting to feel dizzy. Is this part of the healing process or is this due to the focal length change in my eye as I have a bandage contact lens in one eye but not the other.

Hi, as you are describing it might be the accomodation of the eye to the focal length of the new lens. or may be due to the pressure the lens is causing on the eye.
Any how it is adviseble to consult your doctor to verify whether it is running right. Thank you.

Hello,
Corneal epithelial defect usually takes 2 to 7 days to heal completely depending on the size of the epithelial defect. The healing can be made to progress rapidly by using artificial tear eye drops and by avoiding friction by repeated blinking either by eye patch or by using bandage contact lens.
Since you are on treatment by all these modalities, no need to worry the epithelial defect will heal.
Dizziness is usually not related to corneal epithelial defect, hence if diziness is continuing please do consult your physician for evaluation and treatment.
Thank you

Hi..
Thanks for the query...
The bandage contact lens per se will not cause any feeeling of dizziness nor is the healing process for corneal abrasion unless there is an ongoing infection..
Even then if you feel dizzy take rest for one day and you will be alright..
The bandage contact lens used for this purpose will be of zero poer and there won't be any change in vision because of this.
When the BCL is removed you can use some lubricating eye drops for complete healing..
Hope this information helps you...Take care...
