Nose odor, nasal obstruction, possible basilar skull fracture

my 3 1/2 year old son has a rotting odor that seems to be coming from his nose. i ve read some stuff online about it & the most common cause seems to be a nasal obstruction .. he doesn t act like that happened. He did break his nose on a bunk bed 5 weeks ago. Could he have a basilar skull fracture that was asymptomatic until now?

Dear Katie, Welcome to Healthcare Magic! It seems that your small kid has a foreign body in his nose, which is a common problem rather than than a skull fracture and how can the fracture was asymptomatic till now? By a proper nasal examination, including endoscopy if required, the foreign body can be diagnosed. Sometimes general anesthesia may be required for removal.
