Need To Know The Cause Of Tearing Sound In My Ear, Is It Related To TMJ?

Hello, this is Guru, 31 years male from Bangalore (IND) and 'am suffering from TMJ for almost 6 years now. Jaw gets locked and with force I had to unlock it and that's painful. However, during the sleep or when I get up I get acute pain in the ears. Specially the right ear and it gets settles down automatically after 30mins or so. But off lately 'am now experiencing some sort of Tearing sound (not ringing sound) in my right ear if someone speaks loud or a Bang or even I hear some music or standing next to a engine. It wasn't the case before. So, I wanted to know if this is related to TMJ or something else. Sound is similar to cloth being torn.

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from EUSTACHIAN TUBE DYSFUNCTION or ETD which is leading to crackling or tearing sound in ears along with hearing of other sounds and it is not seen in case of TMJ and it is due to TMD which can occur due to blockage of the middle ear with the mucous or sticky material and there is increased pressure inside the ear leading to pain and hearing of sounds and at times there can be reduced hearing which is mostly temporary..
You should consult an ENT expert and he/she can advise you to get TYMPENOMETRY TEST done to rule out the exact cause of the condition and then only a proper treatment can be planned..

Hope this information helps..
