My Question Is, I'm A Type Two Diabetic Who Is

My question is, I'm a type two diabetic who is now on slow mix of insulin. I am not overweight. I am 6'2" and weigh 180 lbs. I no longer drink alcohol, and have changed my diet. I recently had surgery, to remove infected tissue in my right foot. My surgery was completely successful, I had a foot flap, and didn't lose any toes nor my foot. My foot has healed completely. My current concern is the feeling of inflammation in the soles of my feet. My feet do not hurt but I have purchased and wear orthopedic shoes. Later this month, I will start using orthotic inserts. Is there anything I can do to reduce the feeling of inflammation in the soles of my feet? I will also start back to walking, and lifting weights. I will start gradually walking but hope to assume running at some point. My feet are not swollen but feel like it. My doctors have advised me that this will be A SIDE EFFECT OF BEING DIABETIC.
