Mood Swings, Anger Issues. Help

Hi, my friends husband mood will all of a sudden change. Then he gets really mean and says things to my friend anything to hurt her feelings. It doesn't matter what it is whether she didn't cook dinner right or put her down about her son, anything to hurt her and get her going. When he is in a good mood they get a long great and have a lot more good times than bad. But when its bad its really bad. He has not hit her but he is so mad she does keep her distance. It almost sounds like a stress of something with set him off. He seems to have this mood change once every two months or so. She is very confused and loves him but cant be abused like this.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
The condition of your friend's husband indicates that he is in need of medical assistance; he would need a consultation with a psychologist and counselling and medication. Many-a-time, men try to overcome their insecurity and inferiority complexes by trying to dominate the women in their life, this could be the result of a poor childhood or adolescence or repeated failures in life. Please make the couple go for counselling before it is too late. Take care.

I have gone through your available history.

It seems that he is suffering from Depression with poor impulse control but other illnesses like bipolar mood disorder or substance use should be ruled out.

Doctor after confirming the diagnosis, Doctor may advise treatment options like drugs or psychotherapy.

I hope He will be fine soon.

Thanks.
