Mole On Back Of Head By Birth, Notice Grey Hairs Protruding And Thicker. Darker In Center

My son is 15 years old and he was born with a mole on the back of his head, a flat discoloration , the doctor in that time told us that we did not have to worry about it that it was a birth mark. Today he got a hair cut and I notice grey hairs protruding and thicker.
The color of the mole is almost the same color as when he was born slightly darker in the center, is about an inch long on a oval shape.
Can you explain me what steps to take.
Thank you.
