Menopausal, Had Sex, Experiencing Vaginal Discharge. Could This Be A Sign Of Vaginal Atrophy?

Hi I am 55 years old and am 2 to 3 years menopausal maybe already through menopause and my husband and I have not been sexually active and one night all that changed and now I have been experiencing vaginal discharge could this be a sign of vaginal atrophy. I hope I spelled that right. Thank you

Thanks for the query.
After menopause the vaginal tissue will become thinned out.
That can be taken as vaginal atrophy due to decrease hormonal support.
Usually vaginal atrophy may not lead to discharge.
If the discharge persists, once consult gynecologist, get examined to rule out the possibility of infection.
Lesions like cervical erosion can present with vaginal discharge sometimes.
Once go for pap smear.
Check for blood sugar levels once.
If there is presence of infection, you may need one course of antibiotics.
