Memory Loss. Taking Gabapentin. Side Effects Of Medicine?
I am 81 yrs and have been taking Gabapentin 100mg in the am and 300mg in the pm for 8 months. I am experiencing memory loss and at times forget what I am saying, or what I was going to say...people's names etc. Is this because of the drug? Is this presigns of dementia...I am worried and wonder if I should back off the dose or just quit taking it without adverse affects? Can someone please help me to understand...Thank you so much! Joyce
Memory problems with Gabapentin have been reported in some patients but mostly in children. This too is not very common.
However, keeping your age in mind I think there are certain other things like Alzheimer's, dementia due to old age etc which needs to be ruled out.
