Meaning Of Child S Elevated SGPT Level Despite Negative Typhoid Results?

My 5 year old son was brought to the E.R. 5 days ago with acute fever of 38 degrees centigrade. He was Diagnosed w/ tonsillitis and was given Amoxicillin 250/5ml given at 15ml BID. The following morning, He was complaining of abdominal pain and having loose stools. he was given Erceflora. He improved the following day but on the fourth day, he again complained of abdominal pain and had a fever of 38 degrees centigrade again and was given Paracetamol- the fever went down but the abdominal pain persisted. I decided to have his blood checked. He was negative for Typhoid but his SGPT (ALAT) is elevated at 45.42mg/dl ( normal value- up to 41mg/dl) What does this mean?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks and welcome to HCM.
Either it may be infective diarrhea or it may be due to amoxicillin.
Whenever loose motions are present it is accompanied by abdominal pain.
Continue Erciflora and paracetamol as advised.
Cyclopam syrup may help in alleviating the abdominal pain.
If amoxicillin is repalced by another antibiotic if needed may help.
Hope this reply is OK for you.
Further queries invited.
