Lump Under Armpit Moved To The Side Of Breast, Pain When Brushed Against. Mamogram Showed Dense Breast. Any Ideas?
i have had a lump under my armpit for a couple yrs now, i went and had a mamogram done and they said i had dense breasts and thats why it was tender and felt like a lump..nothing to worry about. well i just noticed it seems to have moved more under my armpit than its original position on the side of my breast, and it is a visible bump now and it hurts to just brush against it. what could it be?
Hello Thanks for your query. Some women do have highly dense breasts, and sometimes near the axilla ( armpit ) the tail of the breast can appear to be very dense, and lumpy. IF the mammogram gives you the all clear, do not worry. A mobile lump is more likely to be a fibroadenoma, as you said that the lump has moved. However, a fibroadenoma would have been picked up on the mammogram. The axillary tail of the breast seems more likely diagnosis. ALl the best.
