Lump In The Groin, Rectal Bleeding. Cause?

Hi. I am 18 years old. For months now, I've noticed that there is a hard lump on my groin. It started as a small palpable mass but it increased in size. Also, for two days now I've been experiencing rectal bleeding (bright red). I could say that my rectal bleeding is recurrent because it appears for a few days, then it will be gone for a long time, then it comes back again. What do you think could be the cause of these? What should I do?

Hello and welcome to HCM,

Rectal bleeding can occur due to many reasons.
Presence of bright red blood can be due to hemorrhoids.
However, rectal bleeding can be seen in other conditions like diverticulitis, intestinal polyps, malignancy, etc.
You need to consult a gastroenterologist for this problem.
A sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy is required to look for changes in the intestine.

A lump in the groin can be due to a number of causes.
A lymph node is the most common cause.
However, soft tissue lesion or a bony lesion can also cause this lump.
A fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) needs to be done.
In this procedure, the cells are sampled with the help of a needle.
The cells are examined under the microscope and the character and origin of the lump can be know.
After investigations, the lump can be managed.

Thanks and take care
