Low Ovary Cramps With Little Dark Red Discharge From Vagina, Hot Flashes After Taking Cortisone Shots In Knees. Possible Reaction For Shots?

I am a 63 yr old woman and had a cortisone shot in both knees a week ago. I was told that I might experience hot flashes over the next two days. That evening I had cramps like my cycle was starting ( mind you, I haven't had my cycle for 18 yrs) and then the hot flashes started. They remained for the next 4days. Last night before going to bed, I noticed what looked with menstrual cycle in my underwear. I said no way - sure enough today I have had low ovary cramps and some minimum very dark red discharge from the vaginal area! Through this all....my knees have been so much better and have had the best mobility in the longest of time. Knee specialist says he sees tyears from now that I would need knee surgery. So that means years of cortisone shots if I choose to eliminate that knee pain. Will I react this way every time I have a shot? Is my body saying not to do this ever again? I thought I had made a right choice....now am being to wonder what I've caused.

HI
Thank for choosing HCM
Taking cortisone local therapy in knee joints was old fashioned practice now rarely administered, it has a lot of draw backs first is infection second is trauma and third is hormonal changes if you are female, so it is now not advisable any more now, the problem you described here may be due to this cortisone shot if long last or happens again then go to see the gynecologist, have nice day.
