Knot On Foot, Appeared After A Hairline Fracture, Reappearing After Breaking. Any Ideas?

My daughter, who's 15, has a place on the top of her left foot. At first glance, it looks like a knot but its soft to touch. It also has a balloon like affect, the size changes. We first noticed it when she was about 5 or 6, she injured her foot playing, hairline fracture. This knot appeared like a couple weeks afterwards. Recently she hit it on the back of a bus seat, took her to er, they xrayed it, not broken but bruised badly. A week later, the knot reappeared. Is this something that needs my immediate attention?

Hi and welcome to HCM

The knot on foot is likely to be due to a hematoma formation in the area.
Since the bony injuries have been ruled out, a soft tissue injury is likely. You need to avoid massaging the area and take a mild pain killer for relief. Avoid sitting for long hours. Do a cold compress on the area of injury.
The pain and swelling might take over a week to subside. In case there is an acute pain and a sudden increase in swelling then consult your physician for a direct examination to rule out any infection in the area.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and informative and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care.
