Knee Pain, Pain Intense When Walk. What Could Be The Cause For Prolong Pain At Back Of The Knee?

Hi doctor,

May I know what can be the cause for prolong pain at the back of the knee. It happens on my right knee and the pain was intense when I walked up and down the stairs. After consulting some Chinese physician, the pain is reduced but it is painful when I squat up and down or after sitting for some time.
Thank you much!

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM

Although it isn't possible to diagnose your condition without an examination and a few tests, your history is suggestive of osteoarthritis right knee. Often called wear-and-tear arthritis, osteoarthritis occurs when the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones wears down over time. Osteoarthritis treatments can slow the progression of the disease, relieve pain and improve joint function.
I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for detailed examination. You may get the X-ray/MRI, some blood tests and joint fluid analysis under his/her guidance to reach the accurate diagnosis

Hope this will helps you. Take care.
