Itchy Rashes On The Legs And Arms After Taking Birth Control Pills For Heavy Periods. What To Do?

I am 49 years old and my GYN put me on the birth control pill Lessina 2 1/2 weeks ago because of extremely heavy periods. After being on the pill a little over a week I have developed an itchy rash on my legs and arms. I called my doctor to ask if it could be the birth control pill because I am not on any other medication . His nurse told me no. The odd thing is the rash only itches at night (usually after my shower). Do you think it is related to the pill?
