Itchy Cracked Lip Corners With Dark Spots. What Is Reason?
Hi,I have a problem with my lips . The lining of my lips seem to be itchy and the corners of my lips(when you open your mouth) are a bit torn. My lower lip is purple and has a few dark spots on it. My lips are also tender and dry and I always feel the need to put lip balm on them or else they get really annoying. Can someone please help me and tell me what exactly is the problem? I haven t seen a doctor yet. PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
You seem to be suffering from cheilitis(chapped lips). There could be many causes for the same(nutritional, drug induced, cosmetic induced, infection, eczema, sun damage, dry weather, lip licking etc). As your lower lip is involved, it could be actinic cheilitis. Take an antihistaminic to relieve itching. Use a mild steroid cream like fluticasone over lips for few days and use a lip balm with good spf. Also avoid sun as much as possible. Proper diagnosis and treatment requires a dermatologist's consultation, for the same I would request you to book an appointment as early as possible. Take care

You can use petroleum jelly over the affected area twice daily .
Also you can use a lip cream called LIPZ gel twice a day.
Few prescription drugs and antibiotics can help a lot in cure of this problem.
