Is Wine With Low Alcohol Content Safe To Consume By A Diabetic Patient?

Hello. I drink 4-5 oz of red or white wine with meals. Given my type 2 Diabetes, I have been trying to use lower alcohol content wine (Lambrusco at 8 pts, Italian moscato at 5-6 points -- US moscato is more like 10 pts), or at least the old standard wines (12 pts for red, 10-11 for whites). Now I ve been told that the low alcohol wines are worse for you than the higher alcohol wines (the 13.5 pts I ve been avoiding) because they re sweeter. I thought more alcohol meant more glucose. Could you straighten this out for me? Many thanks

Hi,

It is OK if you are diabetic. But still it will be better if you can give up alcohol completely. Since wine also contain some quantity of alcohol. If you are addicted, then go to consultation clinic for counseling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
