Is Vaginal Thrush Due To Mirena Coil?

I have had a Mirena coil for almost a year and have had thrush almost constantly despite repeated treatment with Clotrimazole. My doctor said she had never heard of this - have you? Its worst just before my period. I m thinking of having the Mirena removed.

Mirena IUCD can cause vulvovaginal fungal infections in some patients. Effective treatment with clotrimazole and maintenance of adequate personal hygiene is possible.
But if the infections are recurring despite taking adequate treatment and causing considerable distress, then I would advice my patient for the removal of the device and go fro alternatives.
Hope the above information helps you in taking the decision. Thanks you.
