Is Vaginal Childbirth Possible After Have Previous Caesarian Surgery?

HI
I am pregnant now , 4 years ago I have a cesarean surgery to birth my doughter because of prurigo gestationalis, now I like to have vaginal birth but my doctor says it is not possible because my last surgery place may be open in vaginal birth , please help me if i can have vaginal birth .

Hello,
Dermatoses like this can recur in subsequent pregnancies. The condition that led to the cesarean section in your previous pregnancy need not be recurrent. Also, you have had sufficient gap between pregnancies to allow wound healing. Hence, it is possible to have a vaginal birth provided you had uneventful postoperative period, and the chances of scar dehiscence if a trial is allowed are then negligible. However, proper continuous monitoring is necessary during labor. Ultimately, it is the decision of your consultant that is more appropriate. Wish you safe motherhood.
