Is Undergoing A CAT Scan Harmful During Pregnancy?

hi im amber, well jus a few days ago i was told by my doc i was preg. but before we astablished i was preg they did a cat scan a week before they told me i was preg. they said i was 7-9 weeks preg. im lil scared for the health of my baby n is there gonna be anything wrong wit my baby????

Hi Amber, I have gone through your question. CT scan in early pregnancy is associated with risk of radiation exposure. Radiation exposure in early pregnancy leads to anomalies in fetus, or can lead to abortion.
I would suggest you to get an ultrasound done to assess the fetal well being. If fetal well being is normal, then do get a detailed anomaly ultrasound at 18-20 weeks. Further decision has to be taken accordingly.
