Is Travelling Safe While Having Herniation At L5 S1?

I have a large herniation at L5 S1 which is causing leg weakness, pins and needles throughout the entire leg, loss of feeling on the outside of my foot and now I m experiencing pain in my rectum. I am supposed to fly from Halifax NS to Richmond VA in 2 weeks and return 4 days later. Is that ok to do? Thanks, Wendy

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It looks from your details that you may be suffering from herniated disc with red flag signs of herniation. I advise you to consult to your doctor immediately for treatment. Delay in treatment may permanently damage your nerves.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mukesh Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon
