Is There Any Medication For Blood Pressure That Does Not Cause Fatigue And Lightheadedness?

I have tried many medications for blood pressure problems. I cannot take the Beta Blokers because of coughing or any of the drugs in the Ace Inhibitors. I am back on Norvasc 5 mg with Hydrodiuril 25mg daily They cause fatigue, tiredness and lightheaded feeling for about 5 hours after I take the medication. Is there any medication that does not cause these symptoms?

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Firstly, ACE inhibitors- and not Beta-Blockers- cause cough. You can therefore take ARBs (Angiotensin Receptor Blockers), such as, Temlisartan or Olmesartan, which do not cause cough. ARBs + Beta Blockers is an ideal combination and should be taken with at least 2 hours' gap between the two.

However, you may first try to keep a gap of 2-3 hours between Norvasc and Hydrodiuril. If the symptoms persist, you should switch over to ARBs + Beta-blockers.

I assure you that the symptoms will disappear, if drugs are taken as advised.
