Is There Any Harm To Do Ultrasound Scan 2 Times A Month?

Hi Doctor, I am two months pregnant now. When i first consulted a gynec, to confirm my pregnancy she told me to do ultrasound scan. She did not find heart beat during the first scan.I was asked to do ultra sound scan exactly after two weeks to see if there is heart beat. This time she did hear heartbeat.I am worried about this ultrasound scan which i did twice during the first month .Is it harmful for the unborn baby in anyways??When is it advisable to do my next scan?.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There is no harm in doing an ultrasound scan twice as in your case. It is a regular method applied when the heart beat is not appreciated in the first scan and the patient is asked to visit again in 15 days for another scan to record heard beat. This confirms a viable pregnancy.
