Is There A Time Frame For Thyroid Levels To Return To Normal On Levoxyl?

My husband's doctor says his thyroid is O. He is to take levoxyl 25mg each day and go back for recheck in 6 to 8 weeks. My question is how long before it is back to where it should be so he will be feeling ok again and his throat won't feel like it is closing up on him.

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,
Once you are started on the correct dose of Levoxyl the thyroid function tests will normalize in 4-6 weeks time. If i were your treating doctor i will retest the thyroid function tests after 6 weeks. If you TSH is not
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help

With warm regards,

Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM)
