Is The Pain Above The Incision Site A Matter Of Concern?

I m 3 weeks post op. Abdominal Hysterectomy plus both ovaries. I still have some pain internally, but the most of my pain seems to be on the skin of my belly, about 5-6 inches above my incision. I have a hard time tolerating even loose clothing. Is this something to be concerned with?

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. Whenever the skin is incised, the cutaneous nerve supply also is incised simultaneously. While healing, these severed nerves cause neuritic pains randomly. Rest, maintenance of tone, vitamin supplements help. When the pain is persistent, further evaluation is needed to plan further management. Hope this helps.
