Is Taking Aspirin Safe For Chest Pain While Suffering From GERD?

I have GERD. I was having chest pain that felt a little different than usual. I took my omeprazole. Got a little scared and went ahead and chewed a baby aspirin. I also burped a few minutes later. The particular pain disappeared. Now I don t know if it was the aspirin that helped and its heart related and I should go to the ER. Or if it is in fact my GERD and the burping relieved it. I now also have a headache.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wondering if taking Aspirin safe for chest pain while suffering from GERD . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like acid reflux , helicobacter pylori , gastritis or food intolerance. You should not lay down immediately after having food and avoid intake of outside food. You should go for exercise on daily basis. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order ambulatory acidity test , endoscopy , allergy test and stool test . Doctor may also you to avoid certain food like dairy products , nuts and seafood . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics for h pylori along with omeprazole and antacid . For now avoid the above mention food , eat light and non spicy . You should also consult cardiologist for chest pain and discuss about taking aspirin .
