Is Switching From Zocor To Lipitor Safe While Suffering From Angina?
hi I had 2 stents in 2013 I take 20 mg Zocor my cardiologist thinks I might have some plaque since I hace some discomfort which goes away fast when I sit down. He thinks it might be mild angina he wants to switch me to Lipitor is there any special reason for that.......thanks
Zocor is having simvastatin. It is one of the oldest lipid-lowering drugs. Lipitor is having atorvastatin. Atorvastatin is a newer lipid-lowering drug. It is having higher efficiency, efficacy and lesser side effects as compared to Zocor. So Lipitor will be more beneficial for your mild angina. And this is the reason why your drug has been changed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
