HI MY NAME IS DEBORAH AND I HAVE FOR THIS WHOLE WEEK BEEN EXPIERINCING SWELLING ON THE TOP OF MY LEFT FOOT AND PAIN SOMETIMES I HAVE BEEN LIMPING OR AS COWORKERS SAY HOBBLING ALONG.THERE IS NO REDNESS I KNOW MY FRIENDS SAID THAT IT COULD BE GOUT AND MY FATHER HAS GOUT REALLY BAD AND I AM OVERWEIGHT SO THEY SAID IT WAS A POSSIBILITY I DONT KNOW IF IT IS OR NOT SHOULD I SEE A DR? I understand your concern.
What problems you are encountering could be dye to the following conditions:
1. Gout.
2. Rheumatoid arthritis.
Since you have familial history of gout, it needs to considered as first possibility.
Kindly get the following investigations done to know what would be the underlying cause.
1. Serum uric acid level.
2. RA Factor.
3. ASO Titre.
4. ESR.
5. Blood urea and serum creatinine.
Kindly consult Orthopedician with report for clinical examination and appropriate management.
