Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

She has been on treatment since many years and then stopped the medicines abruptly. Commonly used anxiety and depression drugs acts by increasing neurotransmitters concentration in brain. Sudden stoppage of these drugs result in withdrawal syndrome. Probably she is having serotonin withdrawal syndrome. She is having severe insomnia. I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for her treatment. As one week has passed in such situation giving her low dose benzodiazepines will help in getting her proper sleep. Provide her good nutrition and keep her in cool, calm and dark room. Visit a psychiatrist asap if problem increases.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
