Is Surgery Needed For The Following CT Scan Result Of The Paranasal Sinuses?
Hi, i have CT PNS report which says: Findings: Evidence of septoplasty and bilateral inferior turinectomy. Impression: 1. Extensive polypoid mucosal thickening in both frontal, maxillary, Ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses with involvement of the osteomeatal complexes and fronto-ethmoidal recess 2. Polyps are also noted in both nasal cavities My questions: 1. Does polyps grow in sinus area as well? 2. Doctor asked me to undergo surgery. Surgery is only option? 3. Polyps can not be treated with medicines? Please suggest. Thanks
There are features consistent with chronic sinusitis. Surgery will be the best option. Nothing much to worry as it is a minimal invasive procedure like FESS (functional endoscopic sinus surgery) and results will be good.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family physician
