I usually have very heavy bleedin cramping periods so this is completely not normal for me. I took an at home test and it came back negative. So what is going on is this what is call implantation and if so when would a pregnancy test show positive? Hi there,
After going through your question, I am of the opinion that:
1) Missing periods or late periods could be a sign of pregnancy.
2)However, if you are on birth control, chances of pregnancy are very less.
3) Spotting could be due to ovulation if it is mid-cycle. Implantation bleeding generally occurs near the date of next periods.
4) Pregnancy test becomes positive after about 2 or 3 days of missed periods, but can sometimes take more time. It can also give false negative results.
5) If you want accurate result earlier, you can go for a blood test called serum beta HCG which becomes positive by 3 or 4 weeks.

I hope this was helpful.
Regards,
Dr. Shikha Shah
