Is Smoking Marijuana Advisable After Receiving Vaccination Shots?

I am traveling to Uganda in April and I just received 5 vaccinations (yellow fever, Tetanus/polio/pertussis/diphtheria, mumps/measles, men C - conjugate, and hep a vaccinations. I typically use marijuana to calm down and as I was frightened while getting these shots (I HATE needles) I was wondering if i could smoke some now to help calm me down as it’s been a while and I’m still quite shaken. Is smoking marijuana after getting several vaccines like this okay? I don’t want to put my immunization at risk. Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would like to reassure you that there is no particular added risk from smoking marijuana after a vaccination. There is no interaction or no added risk, it can be done safely. Of course there may be risks related to marijuana use in general but I suppose you are already aware of that. So I will limit myself dealing with your specific question.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
