Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How can you determine if back pain (sacrum) is cancer? I am a 19 year breast cancer survivor. My back has always been weak , but my pain is increasing. I recently started walking 40 minutes on a treadmill at a pretty good clip, which I love. However, it does seem to make my back worse. I do this every-other-day. I just had bloodwork in February and my oncologist asked to see me in a year. Do I follow up with him, my PC or an orthopedist?
You can consult your surgeon and get a bone scan or PET scan to rule out sacra metastasis. We have to evaluate back pain in a breast cancer survivor thoroughly.
