Is Pregnancy Possible Even After Taking Contraceptive Pills?

Hi! I took Nordette Dec. 18 2AM and 2PM as ECP and experienced bleeding (withdrawal maybe, not sure if period because my regular cycle is really also due this week, I am irregular so I am not sure) Dec. 23 evening to Dec. 24. Dec. 25 it's almost done. Am I safe from pregnancy now? Or is it still advisable to take PT?

Hi,

Since you have taken the pill and had withdrawal bleeding also, it is unlikely that you may conceive, if the pill was taken within the stipulated time after the unprotected intercourse.

Also, pregnancy will occur only if ovulation had occurred around the intercourse. Your next natural period may get delayed by a week or two due to the hormone disturbance created by the pills.

If you do not see your next natural period in 10 days after it is due, please get further help from your health care provider.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam,
