Is Pregnancy Possible After Intercourse Before Periods?

I had unprotected sex with my bf and I am positive he didn t ejaculate inside me. But its been a week since I have been expecting my periods. We had sex 3-4 days before my expected period date. Im worried. Should i wait for my periods or get an abortion pill? If im taking an abortion pill,can i do it privately without anyone knowing?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In a regular menstrual cycle, days around expected date of periods are said to be in safe zone. Moreover you are sure that there was no ejaculation inside so there is hardly any chance of conception with the sex referred in the query. The delay in periods can be due to psychological stress causing hormonal imbalance. Still if you are delayed by 8 days, you can go for home pregnancy test. In case it is late:
-you can wait for periods/get a course of OC pills for inducing bleeding (with a doctor's prescription). But in case you have positive pregnancy test and decided to take abortion pill, then it should be taken after gynecologist's advise, as:
-confirmation of absent tubal pregnancy is needed just before taking pills.
-in case of incomplete abortion or profuse bleeding with abortion pills, Doctor's help and advise becomes necessary to escape serious side effect.
