Is Pregnancy Possible After Having Intercourse Just Before Periods?

Dear Doctor, My name is James and I am 20 years old. Me and my girlfriend were having sexual intercourse this last Thursday, April the 2nd, and the condom broke so I finished inside her (not all of it, less than half). My girlfriend did not take the Plan B pill because I think it is very bad for her, and because she told me that her period was supposed to arrive the next day, and so it did. Her period arrived that Friday, April the 3rd in the afternoon. I wanted to know if there is any possibility of her getting pregnant? Thank you for all your help, and I hope to hear from you as soon as possible, as I am very very worried. Best regards, James

Thank you for asking us at HCM!

Brief Answer: NO

Detailed answer:
The time of ovulation for most of women is somewhere in the middle of her cycle, so if we accept a cycle of 28 days (in general), in the 14-th day is expected the ovulation of the egg. So a woman is fertile in an interval of 1 week, 3 days less and 3 days more from the day of ovulation. This means that the day when you had your sexual intercourse is infertile (probably the 28-th day of the cycle), and the periods show up after that.
Don't worry. Your girlfriend won't get pregnant. Take care.
I wish all the best for you!
