Is Nausea, vomiting With Cramps Sign Of Pregnancy Or Ovarian Cysts?

Nausea and vomiting for fifteen days, milky discharge from nipples, cramps, fatigue, back pain. Negative pregnancy test but my period is not due for two more days. I had hyperemesis with my two previous pregnancies. Is it likely that i am pregnant or is it all in my head? Could it be ovarian cysys?

Hallow Dear,

The first cardinal symptom of pregnancy to appear is missed period. All the other symptoms like, nausea & vomiting with pica, frequent urination and breast changes appear about a week or more after missed period. You have not missed your period nor is the pregnancy test is positive. So you can safely rule out the possibility of pregnancy.

I do not know what makes you think that you are having ovarian cyst. Were you anytime diagnosed to have ovarian cyst? Anyway, ovarian cyst per se should not cause all these symptoms you have mentioned, unless either it is a huge ovarian cyst or multiple of your ovarian follicles have ruptured simultaneously (Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome). The later one would be associated with severe abdominal pain while the former will present with abdominal distention.

Your negative pregnancy test and breast secretions is demandin to rule out high levels of prolactin. Please get your blood examined for Prolactin levels. If they are more than 30 ng/Ml then it is hyperprolactinaemia. In the absence of pregnancy high levels of Prolactin should be further investigated for any tumour in the Pituitary gland in the head.

Micro adenoma of the Pituitary increases the value of Prolactin between 30 nG/ML to 5o ng/ML. The values more than 50 ng/ML are suggestive of Macro adenoma of Pituitary. Big pituitary adenoma may cause protruding of the eyes and/or doble vision like visual symptoms. Such adenoma of Pituitory may cause nausea and vomiting also. Most of the times these tumours and galactorrhoea (milk through the breasts) can be treated successfully by conservative methods using medicines like Cabergoline.

So if your non-pregnant state is confirmed and still you are having these symptoms, please report to a Gynaecologist to rule out Pituitary adenoma.

I hope this guides you appropriately.
